Joaquin Phoenix talked about playing the Joker in an upcoming DC film

A lot of speculations has been made on who is going to play the most popular villainous character in the pop culture. Lately, many well-known actors have been expected to play the role of the Joker from the DC universe. Now Joaquin Phoenix seems to be helming the DC’s most famous villain ‘The Joker’ in an untitled DC film.

It has been prolonged rumour about Joaquin Phoenix to play the role of Joker in a DC film. DC has announced a lot of movies to be made in 2018 and beyond along with the Marvel as well. One of them will be upon the ‘Joker’ where fans will witness the origin of ‘The Joker’ and the backstory of this Clown Prince of Crime.

The film is confirmed to be on floors soon but Joaquin Phoenix playing the Batman’s most powerful enemy is not confirmed. When Joaquin is asked about the same, he said “I don’t know… it could be an interesting character, I don’t know.” He didn’t confirm about his appearance in DC film, however, interestingly, he didn’t deny it at all.

The role of ‘Joker’ has been played by a lot of actors in the history of DC films like Jack Nicholson in Batman (1989), Mark Hamill (Voice actor) in Batman: The Animated Series, Cesar Romero in Batman(1966) and Jared Leto in Suicide Squad () but nothing compared to Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight.

Don’t Miss: Upcoming Superhero movies 2018 and beyond

Joaquin was asked how he feels about working in a comics movie, he said  “I see it as any other movie,” he said. “I wouldn’t say… ‘I won’t do Westerns.’ It depends on what it is. I don’t really care about the genre. I care about the character and the filmmaker. If you have the ability to transcend the genre, then that’s what you want to do. So I wouldn’t say, hands down, no – I wouldn’t do that kind of movie. There are things where I’ve flirted with the possibility where there was the potential for this to be… something that’s actually interesting to me. But then for whatever reason, they never got to that place where everyone else feels the same way. And that’s key. Everyone has to want to explore the same thing or else it just doesn’t f**king work. I’m not opposed to it. I don’t make decisions on the budget or things like that – it’s really the filmmaker and the character.”
